Altai Mountains & Western Mongolia

The Altai Mountains in western Mongolia are one of the most remote and spectacular regions of the country. Located mainly in Bayan-Ulgii Province, this area is known for its dramatic snow-capped peaks, glaciers, alpine lakes, and untouched wilderness.

Altai Tavan Bogd National Park is the highlight of the region. It is home to Mongolia’s highest mountains. It also features the impressive Potanin Glacier. The park offers incredible opportunities for trekking, hiking, and exploring pristine alpine landscapes.

Western Mongolia is also famous for the unique culture of the Kazakh eagle hunters. These hunters have practiced the ancient tradition of hunting with trained golden eagles for centuries. Visitors can experience authentic nomadic life, stay with Kazakh families, and witness traditional festivals such as the Golden Eagle Festival.

Traveling in the Altai region offers majestic mountain scenery. It also provides a rich nomadic culture and unforgettable adventure. These make it one of the most extraordinary destinations in Mongolia.
